Western & Southern Advances National Effort To Promote Retirement Planning April 7-11
Fifth Year Supporting National Retirement Planning Week®
CINCINNATI – April 1, 2014 – For the fifth consecutive year, Western & Southern Financial Group (Western & Southern) is joining forces with the Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) to promote retirement planning. The occasion is National Retirement Planning Week 2014 (NRPW), from April 7 to 11.
"Baby Boomers’ confidence in their financial readiness for retirement has been steadily declining in recent years, IRI research shows, with only about a third optimistic about their situation," said Mark E. Caner, president, W&S Financial Group Distributors, the wholesale distributor of annuities and life insurance from Western & Southern member companies. "This uncertainty urgently needs to be addressed. Consumers can become more confident about their preparedness by first gaining an understanding of planning fundamentals and then employing proven strategies, beginning with a retirement plan itself."
The National Retirement Planning Coalition – a group of prominent financial industry and advocacy organizations spearheaded by IRI – has organized NRPW. This initiative is a national effort to raise awareness among Americans and their financial representatives about the need for comprehensive retirement planning.

- "Retirement Resolutions," an article to be posted on RetireOnYourTerms.org during NRPW; and
- The April launch of "Social Security Know How," an initiative for financial professionals to help clients consider strategies for maximizing their Social Security benefits in retirement.
