Over the past several years, Western & Southern has received a number of significant business awards and recognition. 2017 – As announced in June, Western & Southern Financial Group ranked No. 483 on the Fortune 500 list with $5.398 billion in revenue for 2016. Western & Southern is among 17 combined mutual and stock life and health insurance companies on the Fortune 500.

2017 – Fort Washington Investment Advisors, Western & Southern's investment management firm, was recognized by Pensions & Investments, a top international investment industry trade publication, as one of the best places to work in money management. In recognizing Fort Washington, P&I cited the company's mentoring program between senior managers and new hires, sponsorship of volunteer and professional networking events, and generous benefit program for employees as characteristics that make it a great place to work. This was the third year Fort Washington has made the annual list.

2016Western & Southern Life won the platinum award – the top award – in the employee engagement category in Loyalty360's 2016 CX Customer Experience Awards. The program honors brands using innovative and best-in-class techniques to deliver customer experiences that build customer loyalty. The award recognized the company's Customer First program, which empowers associates to have a voice in helping the company achieve its mission of delivering a superior customer experience.

2015 – Western & Southern received the 2015 Corporation of the Year Award from the African American Chamber of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. The award recognizes excellence among businesses that embody the spirit of the chamber's mission.

2015 – Western & Southern was recognized as a "Winning 'W' Company" for 2014 by 20% by 2020, an organization seeking to increase the percentage of women on U.S. company boards of directors. Winning "W" Companies have 20 percent or more of their board seats held by women.

Recognition for Supporting Our Military

2019 – For the sixth consecutive year, Western & Southern Life has earned the The Military Friendly® Employer designation from Victory Media, publisher of GI Jobs® and Military Spouse. The company also has earned the Military Friendly® Spouse Employer designation for the fourth year in a row.

2017 – Western & Southern Financial Group became a partner in the U.S. Army Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) Program. Under the program, the Army and PaYS partners guarantee soldiers a job interview and priority consideration for employment when they complete their term of enlistment. Soldiers who participate in the program continue to be eligible for all Army education benefits.

2016 – Western & Southern Financial Group was named one of the "Top 100 Employers for Veterans" by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

2016 – Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) recognized Western & Southern Life's longstanding support for associates serving in the National Guard and Reserve by presenting the company with the Above and Beyond Award on April 15, 2016. The company was also recognized as a nominee for ESGR's Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, a prestigious national award presented to only 15 employers across the country.

Community Impact Awards

2017 – The Cincinnati Youth Collaborative (CYC) honored Western & Southern for its mentoring program at Evanston Academy with its Outstanding Group Mentor Award. The company's mentorship program, established in 2014 and one of several education programs supported by the company, has helped improve mentees' school attendance and academic performance, generated greater involvement in school activities and decreased behavioral problems.

2016 – DePaul Cristo Rey High School presented its 2016 Corporate Partner of Excellence Award to Western & Southern. The award recognized Western & Southern as a "pioneer partner" in the school's Corporate Work Study Program. The company has employed students every year since the school opened in 2011. DePaul Cristo Rey, sponsored by the Sisters of Charity, provides a private, college preparatory education to children of families who could otherwise not afford it.

2015 – Western & Southern received the 2015 Cancer Family Care Heart Award for Outstanding Service for its commitment to sustaining and enhancing Cincinnati and the surrounding region. Four Western & Southern presidents have championed Cancer Family Care and ensured that a company executive always serves on its board of directors.
