The Lytle Park Hotel Debuts in Downtown Cincinnati

Western & Southern Financial Group •
Lytle Park Hotel exterior

Opening today in downtown Cincinnati, The Lytle Park Hotel, part of Autograph Collection, is an imaginative collaboration between two historic buildings and the celebrated Lytle Park just outside its doors.

Originally slated to debut in March, The Lytle Park Hotel delayed its opening to comply with city directives created to ensure public safety due to COVID-19. Over the last two months, the property has worked diligently with local authorities on an appropriate opening timeline that delivers the highest level of health and safety protocols.

“We are proud to finally open the doors to The Lytle Park Hotel and officially welcome guests, visitors and local friends,” said Brett Woods, area managing director and general manager, The Lytle Park Hotel. “This property was created to exceed the expectations of today’s modern traveler and provide a genuine and thoughtful space for our neighbors. Today, that vision is more important than ever before, and we’ve worked hard to ensure it stays alive in the guest experience provided by our world-class team. It is their dedication to safety and personalized service that makes The Lytle Park Hotel ‘Exactly Like Nothing Else.’”

The luxury property features 106 oversized guestrooms, including 18 suites and over 11,000 square feet of versatile meeting and event space including the city’s only four-season rooftop venue offering views of Lytle Park, downtown Cincinnati and the Ohio River.

While the expectations of today’s traveler may have changed, the hotel’s commitment to guest service has not. At a time when public health and safety are paramount, The Lytle Park Hotel is introducing enhanced cleanliness protocols, including increasing the disinfection frequency of public areas, offering guest-accessible disinfecting wipes and sanitizer at all entrances and high-traffic areas, reducing paper and other non-necessity amenities in guest rooms, making social distancing furniture adjustments in public areas, introducing a contactless guest check-in process, and elevating its commitment to team member safety and wellbeing with personal protective equipment and ongoing training standards for new protocols.

John F. Barrett, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Western & Southern Financial Group, added, “The completion of this hotel is an iconic addition to downtown Cincinnati and the culmination of many years of hard work and planning with our partners. The Lytle Park Hotel will soon become a destination in and of itself, helping to further Western & Southern’s mission to improve and advance the city of Cincinnati through community impact of making Cincinnati a great place to live, work and celebrate life.” Western & Southern owns the hotel, which was developed by its real estate subsidiary, Eagle Realty Group.

History & Neighborhood

The Lytle Park neighborhood of just a few square blocks makes up a historically rich community. The neighborhood borders Fourth Street to the north, Lytle Park to the south, Broadway to the west and Pike Street to the east. It is marked with buildings and monuments that tell the tales of the pioneers of old and the modern day. Brick mansions, row houses and an upscale apartment building known as The Phelps were once homes to some of the city and country’s elite families, including the family of William Howard Taft, the 27th President of the United States.

Situated across the street from the Taft Museum, a National Historic Landmark and one of the country’s finest small art museums, the original site of The Lytle Park Hotel was once known as the Anna Louise Inn. Named after Charles Phelps Taft’s daughter, Anna Louise Taft Semple in 1909, the Taft family donated the site, and the Inn was built to provide suitable and safe housing for young women from rural areas coming to Cincinnati for work. The facility was later relocated to an alternate venue in Mt. Auburn and remains in operation. Today, The Lytle Park Hotel thoughtfully blurs the lines between its cherished neighborhood park and the hotel, bringing beautiful outdoor elements indoors while honoring the tradition and history within to offer guests an oasis from the city.

Concept & Design

The striking design of The Lytle Park Hotel is the vision of San Francisco-based design firm Forrest Perkins. Cleverly joining two distinct buildings, the hotel’s grand atrium weaves the adjacent Lytle Park into its design and atmosphere, celebrating the building's classic architecture and park-central setting. Guests enter the stunning light-filled lobby where they are greeted by expansive greenery and a vaulted glass ceiling. The lush green-filled space invites guests to relax and enjoy a refreshment in a new neighborhood gathering place.

Guest Rooms & Suites

Designed as a sanctuary for modern travelers, spacious guest rooms averaging over 450 sq. ft. are also driven by a nod to nature and the adjacent park. The use of warm wood tones are inspired by trees while accents of vibrant and soft blues offer a nurturing contrast to encourage relaxation. Elegant finishes with natural stone and burnished metals provide an upscale yet residential feel. With each of the 18 suites featuring its own dedicated living area, guests will find a variety of room types to suit every need, including two specialty suites with fireplaces.

Food & Beverage

With an iconic crown-shaped pendant bar and large-scale floral screens, Subito is surrounded by comfortable booths and an open kitchen where guests can enjoy the fine dining Italian menu and watch the culinary team in action. Warm wood and rich brass tones again draw influence from trees, while dynamic green and blue accents pay tribute to nature. The restaurant and lounge open to the outdoors with an all-season dining room and outdoor patio, further blending the park and hotel concept. For intimate events, the adjacent Oak Room serves as a private dining space for up to 12 patrons. With Executive Chef Michael McIntosh at the helm, Subito offers breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, and coming soon - brunch on Sundays. Featuring homemade pastas, stone-oven pizzas, fresh seafood and raw bar, hand-selected steaks and traditional antipasti in an elegant setting. Guests and neighbors will quickly find their new favorites, including Frito Misto, Cacio e Pepe, Soppresata Pizza and 36-ounce Piedmontese Tomahawk. Regionally inspired cocktails, including the exclusive Lytle Park limoncello, pair perfectly with signature dishes. Those looking for an authentic Italian experience may choose from the list of fine Italian wines and rare bourbons.

The hotel’s crowning feature, Vista at Lytle Park, offers sweeping views of Lytle Park, downtown Cincinnati and the Ohio River, spanning over 5,177 sq. ft. across the indoor and outdoor rooftop venue. With chic decor and banquette seating that has been rearranged to accommodate for social distancing guidelines, Vista’s contemporary menu and specialty craft cocktails create a warm neighborhood ambiance for patrons seeking a unique, four-season  outdoor rooftop experience for private events or evening nightcaps.

Meetings & Special Events

Centrally located, The Lytle Park Hotel features eight unique and flexible meeting rooms from the Park to the Sky designed for small-to-medium groups. As part of the hotel’s commitment to health and safety protocols, the dedicated catering and events team specializes in alternative set-ups to accommodate social distancing guidelines. Situated above the lobby with windows overlooking Lytle Park, the Magnolia Room offers ample natural light spanning 2,315 sq. ft. with an additional 1,165 sq. ft. of outdoor space on the adjoining terrace, ideal for meetings or wedding ceremonies. Located on the lower level, the elegantly appointed Sycamore Room, which can be divided for privacy, spans 2,262 sq. ft. and features blue and gray undertones with executive meeting chairs and rolling linenless tables. For larger parties, Vista at Lytle Park offers spectacular views and over 5,177 sq. ft. of indoor-outdoor event space to accommodate up to 100 guests with social distancing considerations, with a portion offering a fully retractable glass cover for all weather conditions. For inquiring clients who are unable to visit in person, The Lytle Park Hotel offers virtual site tour options to assist in the planning process.
