Ride Cincinnati Funds Local Cancer Care and Research

Ride Cincinnati 2019 starting line
In the words of Dr. William Barrett, co-director of the Barrett Cancer Center at UC, “No one should have to leave Cincinnati for the very best cancer care.”

To that end, Ride Cincinnati was created to fund cancer research and care right here in our community. Raising more than $4.5 million since 2007, the event is accelerating the drive for a cancer care center recognized by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Cincinnati is one of largest cities in the country without an NCI-designated cancer center, pushing many to seek treatment outside of the region.

Western & Southern has been a proud supporter of Ride Cincinnati since the beginning with involvement from associates through volunteering, fundraising and riding. For several years, their generosity helped make Western & Southern the top fundraiser and largest corporate team of riders. This year, the Western & Southern peloton has more than 185 riders.

Western & Southern CEO John F. Barrett has a personal connection to the cause and shares his story in this video. He asserts that, “of all the campaigns in which I’ve been involved, this is by far the most important.”

The 2021 event begins with a Kickoff Party at The Lytle Park Hotel on September 17. The ride departs on September 18 from downtown Cincinnati with routes ranging from 15 miles to 100 miles. There is also a virtual rider option. Register at ridecincinnati.org/ride.
